Morgen nachmittag (29.12.2003) zieht der SWB Server auf eine neue Maschine und Adresse um. Alle Daten sind bzw. werden zu diesem Zeitpunkt synchronisiert, einzelne Dienste werden fuer wenige Minuten waehrend des Transits nicht zur Verfuegung stehen. Falls noch jemand als DNS Server die bisherige Maschine benutzt, bitte auf 220.247.0.143 (gate.swb.de) aendern. Ansonsten sollte die neue Maschine deutlich schneller sein (sowohl CPU als auch Bandbreite) und Mails werden zusaetzlich mit SpamAssassin und einem Virusfilter bearbeitet.
Fragen waehrend der Umstellungsphase an cb@gate.swb.de, ansonsten wie ueblich an cb@swb.de.

Tomorrow afternoon the SWB server will be moving to a new machine and address. All data is already or will be synced by that time, specific services will be unavailable for a few minutes during the transition. In case you are using the current server for DNS, please update your config to use 220.247.0.143. Other than that the new server should be a lot faster (CPU and bandwidth wise) and as an additional service all mails will be scanned by SpamAssassin and a virus filter.
Any questions during the moving period should go to cb@gate.swb.de, otherwise use the usual cb@swb.de.

Am 11.10.2003 wird der Dial-In Betrieb (analog und ISDN) eingestellt. Die ueberwiegende Mehrheit der SWB User benutzt schon seit langem andere und deutlich guenstigere Internetzugaenge, der Betrieb des sehr teuren Primaermultiplex ISDN Zugangsknoten ist nicht mehr tragbar. Die SWB Dienste ab dem 01.10.2003 (die meisten werden schon vorher verfuegbar sein):

  • Mail und News via UUCP oder IP (Authenticated SMTP und NNTP)
  • Homepage (50MB mit CGI)
  • Dynamisches DNS (GnuDIP)
Der Preis betraegt einheitliche 10 Euro/Monat, wer zum 01.10 kuendigen moechte und bereits ueber diesen Zeitpunkt bezahlt hat erhaelt eine entsprechende Rueckueberweisung.

The dialup service (modem and ISDN) will be terminated on 11.10.2003 (that is Saturday, October 11th) due to an insufficient number of users. Most current SWB users already employ other and cheaper methods of internet access. The services of SWB after 01.10.2003 (most of them will be available earlier):
  • Mail and News via UUCP or IP (Authenticated SMTP and NNTP)
  • Homepage (50MB with CGI)
  • Dynamic DNS (GnuDIP)
Pricing will be 10 Euro/Month, anybody who wants to cancel on 01.10.2003 and already payed past that date will be refunded.
