Part 01. Second Half [version 1.0]
Ako's friend's call for her and invite her to
go with them to Shibuya to shop some, but Ako, running
out of the class in a hurry, tells them that she is sorry
but has club activities...
The three girls look at her in horror. "CLUB ACTIVITIES??!"
As Ako runs down the hall, the girls wonder what's up
with her... (^^; )
Nishina explains to Ako what her duties as manager are...
Every morning, with the morning training of the team, she is
to clean the club's room and polish the balls. Ako then
takes a look at the club's room (the place where they
change clothes)...
If I would scan it, it would break my scanner.
Ako looks in utter horror as the horrible smell makes Nishina
take a handkerchief to her nose.
Ako turns to Nishina. "E...er... I have... to do this...
alone....?"
Nishina reminds Ako that she, too, had to pass through the
first year (of being a manager). Besides, she remarks, Ako can
quit anytime she wants.
Ako is left like hit by a tornado... But she won't quit. (At
least, not so fast, she will wait at least a week ^^; )
Later on, as Ako cleans the balls, Taiji approaches her and
comments on her big outlook transformation--and he doesn't look
too impressed...
Ako looks up at him with tears in her eyes. Does it look
strange? Does she look like Kentarou?!
[Kentarou is a popular Japanese character, like the
typical Japanese kid you could imagine (black, straight hair like
a bell all over) with a small, round bald spot on the top. And
believe me, she does look like it ^^; ]
Taiji denies that as firmly as he can (which, being as
well-natured as he looks like, is not very much ^^; ). Then
he blushes a lot and tells her that the hairstyle suits her.
Ako cries some more and thanks Taiji a lot and tells him
he really is a kind guy--while Taiji just waves his hands
and denies it all! (^^)
"You really... entered the basketball club."
Ako looks on with a determined expression. "Yes. I will
absolutely continue." And then cheers herself.
Taiji looks at her like studying her, and then wishes her
good luck.
(And so Ako's every-morning-adventure begins!)
Ako's day follows as such: She wakes up at five (even before than her
own brother), makes herself go to the school and cleans the horrid
male basketball club room. Nishina arrives and sees her working
hard (and probably takes pity on the poor soul as she knows what's
going to happen...). Before practice: Perfectly clean. After
practice: Hell once again.
Nishina laughs behind her. "Weell... Good luck in keeping this
mood up!"
Ako chan strangles the water out of a cleaning cloth with a
face of desperation.
$HHIIIIIIIIT!!
Ako keeps on cleaning balls and thinking she is a fool when
some of the older club members notice her.
"Hey, keep it up newbee! Doumoto-san, isn't it?"
The guy then turns to Ako's brother. "The older sister
of 1st grader Katsumi, true?"
Katsumi looks in horror. "WHAT, YOU KNOW?!" While Taiji
smiles at his side.
"Katayose-kun said it---"
Ako's eyes open wide in less than a blink.
Ako goes to the older guy. "Katayose-sensei?! Why!?"
The poor man sweats at Ako's eagerness. "Eh?! Well, hey,
look, he could have seen it somewhere like in your
registration card for the club?"
But as Ako muses on that and Taiji looks at Ako's
worry, Katayose himself appears and asks what's happening...
...and Ako's heart starts to go wild.
The older guy tells Katayose that he was talking with
Katsumi and the newbee, his sister. Katsumi, of course,
complains and Katayose looks at Ako, who smiles happily.
But Katayose looks away and asks where Nishina is. That
kind of thing it's only noise... makes the practice more
crunchy.
Ako just looks on, too hurt to do anything.
Nishina enter the room and asks Katayose what
he wants. He wants to talk about the budget with her, since
one of the other teachers---
Ako looks down. He thinks nothing of her--there are
no feelings. She's been a fool, she thinks, it's all
for nothing...
As the training ends, Nishina asks Ako if she can return some
bags and a screen. Ako says it's ok and Nishina asks her if
it's really ok, since it's so many things to carry by
just one person.
Ako looks at Nishina and her worried face. "What?"
But Nishina shuts up and Ako returns to her things and her
really bad day. However, when Nishina leaves she actually
says, "Bye, see you tomorrow." Which leaves Ako with a
very nice feeling. And, as she carries two big bags and the
rolled screen through the school, she cheers herself up with
a small smile.
However, she stumbles in one step and as she is about
to fall backwards, somebody helps her.
Ako turns around with a nice smile. "Ah, thank y...."
Katayose is standing right behind her. "What an amount
of things." Then he tries to take the bags but Ako doesn't
want him to, she can carry them! No need for him to help!
But of course Katayose just keeps on carrying them all (^^; )
and as they walk, he cheers her up on her first week (hardest
of them all). He also says that Nishina said very good things of
her... Ako is a fine girl, he comments.
Ako can't take all of this and just stays there, blushing.
He turns around. "Hey, what is it? Hurry up, Doumoto."
Ako smiles brighter than the sun. "YES!"
The first week at the basketball club and I, Doumoto Ako,
have entered for the first time Katayose-sensei's field of
vision.
To Be continued... (when I have the time ^^;;; )
