Kageki ni Houkago

Kageki ni Houkago was published in The Margaret issue #1'02 (different magazine than normal Margaret).
This is the story of a young girl working part-time at a video store who meets and falls in love with a young police officer investigating a case. But because they are too busy fighting (or not!) their relationship, they don't realize she is working in the lion's den! (And Sakura-sensei draws probably her coolest guy yet! ^o^; )

Kageki ni Houkago

Mayu is a 15 year old high schooler working at her part-time job in a video rental when a weird looking guy approaches. He's using a hat and dark glasses and is renting an anime video! Mayu guesses he is some anime otaku... The guy starts asking if she is working alone in the store, and then stares at her and guesses she goes to high school. Mayu is really freaked out! After he has left, the owner of the store asks if there is something wrong with her, but she says there isn't. After her shift, she leaves for home, but suddenly notices the weird guy is waiting outside hiding behind a street lamp! And then he starts to follow her. Mayu is now seriously worried, but decides to take action better than be a willing victim. She turns around on him and starts punching him... until he asks her to stop and take a good look. He is, in fact, a police officer! She guesses that he was around the store because he is investigating some crime. And she is really happy because he is really good looking. The next day, Mayu is really happy during work, so the owner asks if she got a boyfriend or something. Mayu says not reaaaaallyyyy... *blush*. She looks into the client's database and finds out that his name is Seijirou Sakai and that he is 24 years old. Mayu wonders if he will come today too... and he does! Mayu runs to him and calls him by "officer" and asks why he's so late. The poor guy drags her out after telling the owner that he was just returning a tape... Sakai spanks her for her big mouth. She also tells him that there were no weird customers that day. He tells her it's not a joke, and asks her if she has noticed other girls like her wandering around the area. Mayu, however, is more interesting in leaning towards him for a kiss... (^^;; ) Sakai pulls back in shock when he realizes what she is about to do! She jokes that he wanted to kiss her, and he tells her that kids like her are only a bother. Mayu tells him she is not a kid. On her free day, Mayu goes out with her friends but is depressed. Her friends tell her that a 24 year old is... like, you know, really old! Mayu defends him ardiently and her friends tease her to no end. As she walks back home, a couple of male students try to convince her to go karaoke with them for a while, but before Mayu gets to kick them... Sakai appears and scares them off. They exchange a couple of puns and he warns her to be careful. Mayu is happy because he (reluctantly) admits to be concerned about her. They are interrupted by a call on his cellphone, and Mayu decides to put her number in it! (to his horror... ^^) Later at night Mayu wonders if he has a girlfriend... 3 days later after no calls or sightings of him, Mayu is getting really depressed. The owner wonders if that officer is Mayu's boyfriend, but she denies it very strongly. After work, she discovers that Sakai is waiting in a car outside the store. She brings him some food, and he invites her inside the car. They talk about the difference between TV series police officers and the real thing, but Mayu tells him that she thinks he is really cool because of all that he is doing. He laughes (in a good way) at her words. But suddenly, something outside claims his attention. Mayu looks and sees the owner with some female student and wonders if it's his daughter. Sakai suddenly pulls her down and covers her with his body, hiding them from the outside view. He apologizes, but Mayu hugs him and confesses she likes him! She can't see his shocked face... Sakai acts like if nothing happened and drives her home. After she steps out of the car she asks him if he heard what she said, but he tells him not to make fun of him. Mayu is angry at his attitude. On his own, Sakai notices some candies Mayu left for him and ponders about kid-ness and adulthood. But Mayu hasn't given up! She decides to go to his police station and ask for him. He wonders what he is doing there, and a beautiful woman who was talking with him, recognizes her as the kid from the video rental shop, and tells her that this is not a place for kids to come and play. Mayu is really upset at this and tells him that she likes him so she is not a kid. She leaves after telling him he is an idiot. At the store, Mayu ponders about the fact that the woman and Sakai looked really well together. She asks the owner if adult men preffer adult women. He goes to her and caresses her hair and tells her that there are many adults in this world that preffer high school female students! Mayu can't believe what's happening! Meanwhile, Sakai is outside but really annoyed because of what happened. He suddenly notices that the lights of the store go out. Inside, the owner has tied Mayu up and put tape on her mouth, and as he starts to make a move, her phone starts ringing. Outside, Sakai starts to speak, but hears weird noises and realizes what's going on! He breaks in and saves Mayu, handcuffing the man. He unties poor Mayu and tells her things are fine now. They hug for a moment, and she tells him that he is really cool (in what he does, not just how he looks), and kisses him on the cheek! Sakai is really surprised and blushes furiously. (And they also suddenly realize they are in front of half the police station staff! Sakai drags her out before he gets reprimanded for evil doings with a minor... ^^) And since there are on it, Mayu asks him, what about some real kiss?? --The End--
