| Maria |
|
Maria is a very spirited young girl. She is a Spaniard and lives in the city of Sanlucar de Barrameda, in the south of Spain. She has a little brother called Martin and them and their father share house with Antonio and his family. Her mother died when she was quite young. Maria is an ordinary person and has to work like many others. Her best friends are Juana and Antonio, who she knows since she was very little. The three of them used to play together, but now that they are older, their relationship is starting to change. Even though Antonio seems to be in love with Maria, it's so jokingly obvious that one wonders just how true these feelings _really_ are ;) For her part, Maria sees Antonio only as a friend. |

| Kojirou |
|
Kojirou arrived at Sanlucar de Barrameda as an escort to Tsunenaga, who is on a mission to help Christianity develop in Japan (well... or so he says. Take a look at the historical background page). While he is a guest in the city, he is stabbed by Tsunenaga and left for death by him and the other escorts. He seems to be very strict, but also shows that he has a heart from time to time. |

| Antonio |
|
Antonio is a very flamboyant young man. He shares house with Maria and her family and has an older brother. He has been best friends with Maria since childhood as well as with Juana, but he seems to dislike Juana nowadays. He seems to be in love with Maria and sees her as his bride (almost as good as married ;), but that doesn't stop him from flirting around and making out with other girls. He doesn't have a very good opinion of nobility in general. |
| Juana |
|
Juana belongs to the nobility. Her father is a very important person in the city and hosted the guests from Orient (Kojirou and co.) when they arrived at Sanlucar de Barrameda. She has been friends with Maria and Antonio forever. She seems to be romantically interested in Antonio, but she is probably too shy and quiet to show it or tell it (due to her upbringing). She is rich and the contrast between her and Maria is quite big both in their appeareance and character. |
| Martin |
|
Martin is Maria's little brother. He is very lively and is a defender of Maria from Antonio's improper advances. |
