Note: B/w scans are from the magazine, where the print is in low quality paper and different ink colors so it sometimes scans pretty bad and leaves lots of noise in the picture. The tankoubon quality is, of course, much better (perfect, that is).

Chapter 29 (Oct'2003) [ vol.05 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. The woman turns out to be Hanzou's older sister, Suzune (and her two brats and three babies). Hanzou introduces Usagi as her fiancee (which sends her on loops), and although Suzune seems happy... During dinner, Usagi falls sick and goes to take some medicine. When she arrives at her room the monkey is stealing them! Usagi tries to stop him but is too sick and is left with the mess. Suzune sees this and blames Usagi, saying she can't stand stupid girls and liars. Before she can use her ninja stars to harm her, Hanzou appears in time and tells Suzune to cut it out because Usagi doesn't have any ninja training. Suzune is appalled at this because she doesn't want the house of Hattori to end at the hands of someone like this. Hanzou tells her that he will be teaching her the ninja arts and then asks Usagi to sleep in his room from now on. Usagi is very excited but he only does it to protect her from his sister, so she ends up in an armor (^^; ). Meanwhile, Hikaru's master has taken a look at Usagi's medicines and orders him to bring the girl who did them to him. At Hanzou's keep, Usagi is about to die from heat inside the armor. Hanzou takes the helmet away, and Usagi tells him that she will try hard to learn the arts and become Hanzou's bride. Hanzou leans closer to her but then seems to hear a noise. When he checks outside the door, there is nobody. Suzune was hiding however, and she thinks that she will make Hanzou look away from this girl. (Note: Hanzou looks really good in his sleeping yukata... ^^; )
Chapter 30 (Nov'2003) [ vol.05 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. Suzune remembers teaching Hanzou the ninja arts and how he used to do as she wanted... until now. Poor Usagi wakes up from her horrible night in the armor and meets Hanzou, who explains that his sister left home 8 years ago. He tells Usagi to prepare breakfast, but she is really bad at it, so he has to help. Suzune finds out and offers to teach Usagi wifely duties, to which Usagi is very grateful. Of course the moment Hanzou leaves, it turns into a "let's bash Usagi" fest. First Suzune's brats manage to spill all the confeti Yukimaru gave Usagi, then she tells Usagi not to call her "sister" until she and Hanzou are married (*), then follows a long day of driving Usagi to her limits with cleaning floors and such, during which she gets blisters and is obviously feeling weaker and weaker as the day progresses (no food ^^; ), and also seems flushed all the time. Suzune complains about her and her lack of strength. The last drop is when Usagi discovers the beautiful fabric Hanzou bought for her has been turned into kimonos for Suzune's kids. Usagi gets mad and tells Suzune to apologize for it, but after throwing her to a side, Suzune coolly tells her that anything Hanzou buys belongs to the Hattori family and there is no way she is going to apologize to her. (* : Traditionally, future members of a family will call that family by family names. So a man's bride will call his father, "father," his sister "sister," and so on (in modern times, even steady girlfriends/boyfriends do this). Suzune telling Usagi not to call her "older sister" is a very straight way of telling Usagi she doesn't approve of her or Hanzou's choice. It's quite a slap in the face to be told this so directly. )
Chapter 31 (Dec'2003) [ vol.05 ]
Note: Dark haired Hanzou (our main character in this story) = Hanzou. Blonde Hanzou (main character of Tsuki no Toiki, Ai no Kizu) = Hanzou II. Hanzou Sr. = Blonde Hanzou's father. Suzune tells Usagi that Hanzou won't marry her as she wants it. Hanzou himself arrives and notices the fabric of the brats' kimonos right away. Usagi tells him Suzune cut her fabric, and Suzune says she didn't know it was Usagi's. Hanzou doesn't seem concerned and Usagi starts to talk to him, but he tells her that he can buy another one, and not to attach herself so much to mere things. Usagi is very taken aback as she realizes that her most treasured things (like the fabric he bought for her) are just normal "things" for Hanzou. Later that night, they repeat the process of sleeping in the same room with Usagi in an armor. Usagi is feeling down and tries to ask Hanzou why he made her his bride, but isn't brave enough. As they lay in silence, Usagi ponders about the fact that he never said he liked heri, either even though he announced her as his bride. Next day Usagi tries to learn how to sew, and is really bad at it (plus, she has to sew her ex-kimono fabric! -_- ). Sara arrives and asks to join them. It's the first time for Sara to sew, but she catches on right away and Suzune compliments her. Usagi pricks her finger with the needle and Suzune gets mad and throws one of her ninja stars at Usagi, but thankfully Sara grabs it in time, warning Suzune to be a bit more careful. Suzune is really impressed that Sara managed to grab it and immediately drags her to Hanzou, telling him to marry Sara instead! Hanzou II arrives and tells Suzune Sara is his, and they bother start to fight over Sara. (^^; ) Usagi watches Hanzou II and Sara and sees how happy they seem and how well they fit together. As Hanzou sees her and lectures her a bit more, she thinks that her relationship with Hanzou is very different. Later on, as Usagi continues with her attempts at sewing, Mamezou plays with Suzune's daughter. The adults talk about him and how he has no parents. However while he is playing, he tells the kid that what he likes most about her is her nose (pretty big ^^; ) and she starts to cry and gets mad at Mamezou. Suzune goes with the crying kid to Usagi, who is drinking water to satisfy her hunger. Usagi makes Mamezou apologize with her to Suzune for making the kid cry, even though Mamezou insists he hasn't done anything wrong. The second brat arrives and he whispers a plan into his sister's ear. They tell Mamezou to go back to play with them hide and seek. When he finds them, they are making balls out of dirt and the older brother tries to make Mamezou eat them. Suzune calls them for lunch in that moment. The brats want to eat, but Hanzou tells them they are waiting for Mamezou. However poor Mamezou is covered with dirt because of the brats and Suzune yells at him, and then at Usagi since she is in charge of him. Hanzou says he is taking a bath and runs away. Hanzou seems to have noticed something and decides to join him in the bath (fanservice! *^^* ). Mamezou says he will wash Hanzou's back but Hanzou tells him they will clean him first. Mamezou tells Hanzou that it's the first time somebody washes his back, and Hanzou is surprised. Poor Mamezou starts to cry and says that because of him Usagi is always mad. Hanzou tells him it's not his fault and reminds him that "men don't cry." He also tells him to tell him if anything happens. Mamezou cheers up a lot.
